Journey Community Church began as a bible study in June of 2008 with just three couples. Nine months later, the bible study had grown to over 90 people. Journey launched their first “public” service on Sunday, March 28th, 2009 with 374 people in attendance. Through a series of miracles during the week of the public launch, Journey was able to purchase the 30,000 sq ft building known as the Fairview Park campus. The week following Journey’s official launch, nearly 140 people returned and made Journey Community Church their home.
During June of 2009, Journey Community Church added a second service to keep up with the God-given growth of the congregation. Journey continued to grow steadily to 400 people attending in year one, 650 people in year two, and 950 people attending regularly in year three. Now, nearly 1,400 people across 3 campuses call Journey Community Church their home. Journey was named one of the 25 fastest growing churches under 1,000 in the country; according to Outreach Magazine in 2011.
Journey launched its second campus in 2012, located in Pepper Pike, OH. In August 2013, Journey added a Saturday night service to the Fairview Park campus. Journey launched its third campus in September 2014 in Jefferson, OH. Each of these campuses are mirrors of those at the Fairview Park campus with live worship and personal ministry. Each campus has a strong emphasis on ministry to all generations, young families, singles, and single-parent families.
YOUR ROLE IN THE STORY:
Many new and dynamic ministries have been birthed out of Journey to minister to individuals and families. In the midst of all of this exciting activity, we recognize that God has a unique calling and purpose for every person. While numerical growth can be a blessing, we believe church health is the most important thing we can strive for, and that starts with those who call Journey their home. We believe we are called to help people fulfill their unique calling and purpose for the glory of God and the furthering of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our hope is to help people from all economic, social, and ethnic backgrounds in our city and in our world.
